A 71-year-old man was injured in a motorcycle accident on a local San Antonio road. Police indicate that the accident occurred when the driver of an older model Mitsubishi made a left turn and collided with the motorcycle being driven by the 71-year-old. The collision caused the motorcycle rider to be thrown 20 feet from his vehicle.
The motorcycle rider was unresponsive but still alive when he was taken away to a nearby hospital. Neither driver is alleged to have been speeding, but the reporting officer did state that it appeared as though the driver of the Mitsubishi was at fault for the accident.
Car accidents often involve an investigation that will have to hypothesize what exactly occurred during an accident. Attorneys may bring in experts that can help recreate the scene and present the events as they may have possibly happened. The attorney for the motorcycle driver may need to at least consult with such experts if he wants a more accurate picture of what happened. Witness statements and police reports, like the report mentioned above, may be critical to proving that the Mitsubishi driver was at fault. Although there is no indication that the police actually witnessed what happened, their fact based opinions may still be informative on how the motorcycle rider should proceed. Many officers may have seen enough accident scenes to be able to tell who was at fault.
