Head-on Collision Kills Five

A head-on car crash that ended with five fatalities is still being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety. The collision, which occurred near Los Fresnos, appears to have occurred when a Toyota RAV4 being driven by a 32-year-old female driver swerved into oncoming traffic. The Toyota RAV4 then struck a Toyota Corolla that was being driven by a 32-year-old man.

There were four occupants within the Toyota Corolla at the time of the fatal accident, and all four were reported to have died on the scene. Among the four passengers in the Toyota Corolla was a 13-year-old boy and a 3 year old girl.

There were two Santa Rosa women in the Toyota RAV4 who were in critical condition and were transported to a local hospital for medical care. The passenger in the Toyota RAV4 reportedly died in the hospital. The driver of the Toyota RAV4 was transferred to another hospital and remained in critical condition. The Texas Department of Public Safety is attempting to determine whether alcohol may have been a factor in the accident that claimed five lives.

The families of those killed in this accident may be able to pursue the driver of the RAV4 for wrongful death compensation. This type of compensation would allow the family to recover compensation for the loss of their family members’ lives. The family of the RAV4 passenger involved and injured in the accident may also be able to claim against the driver. If the driver dies following this accident, the families may still be able to claim a wrongful death suit against her estate, but if the estate is depleted at the time of the compensation claim, they may not be able to collect upon the claim, regardless of its outcome.
