Two adults and one child died as a result of a fatal car accident that occurred in Arlington, Texas on Wednesday, July 24, 2013. A 41-year-old man was driving his pick-up truck east on Interstate 30 between Eastchase Parkway and N. Fielder Road at 2:20 a.m. when he suddenly rear-ended the passenger car ahead of him. After the impact, the car carrying the two adults and one infant was disabled, but was then struck again by a truck pulling a flatbed trailer. The passenger car was left in the middle lane of the highway. With debris in the road, Interstate 30 was partially closed so that the scene could be cleared.
The accident killed all three of the family members. The three were returning home from Walmart after buying food. After the accident, the driver of the pick-up truck attempted to flee the scene. First he attempted to drive his truck away from the scene, but then he chose to run on foot through the woods nearby.
Using a thermal imaging camera from the local fire department, however, police were able to track him down and arrest him. He has been charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of failure to stop and render aid. His bond was set at $80,000.
