A Dec. 6 accident between two passenger vehicles and a tractor-trailer at the West Texas junction of State Highway 176 and FM 1788 resulted in three fatalities. The Department of Public Safety reported that the fatal collision took place at about 8:30 a.m. and left one person with injuries.
The car accident happened east of Andrews, authorities said. According to the DPS, a 32-year-old El Paso man was driving a Jeep south on FM 1788 when he ran a stop sign at the State Highway 176 junction and collided with a westbound Ford F-150 pickup truck. The accident transpired in the path of an eastbound semi-truck, which subsequently became involved in the wreck. The 47-year-old driver of the semi-truck could not avoid hitting both vehicles, authorities said.
The driver of the Jeep lost his life in the collision, officials declared. The pickup truck’s 43-year-old driver and a 15-year-old passenger in the vehicle died as a result of the wreck as well. The driver of the semi-truck reportedly suffered injuries that required treatment at the Texas-Permian Basin Regional Medical Center, where officials indicated that he was in stable condition.
