Woman dies after being crushed by semi-truck in Texas accident

One person died and another was injured in a tractor-trailer accident on Oct. 27. The accident occurred shortly before 9 a.m. on Highway 225 in Pasadena. The deceased woman was traveling in the westbound lanes of 225 near Preston Road when she slowed down to avoid hitting a driver who had pulled his pickup truck to the side of the road to collect some plastic containers that blew off a trailer attached to his pickup. A semi-truck that was traveling behind the woman failed to slow down and struck her car, rolling forward and crushing the car beneath it.

The woman was trapped inside her car as a result of the crash. Rescue crews cut into the car to extricate her, but authorities pronounced her dead at the scene as a result of unspecified injuries. The driver of the semi-truck suffered injuries to his right arm. He received treatment at a Pasadena hospital and was later released. The driver of the pickup truck suffered no injuries.

Highway 225 was closed for about six hours while crews worked to clear the scene. At the time of reports, police were still investigating the accident to determine who was at fault. One representative from the Pasadena Police Department said that investigators had not yet determined whether charges would be filed in connection with the accident.

Families of deceased semi-truck accident victims can suffer serious damages resulting from emotional trauma, lost income and death-related expenses. Personal injury attorneys may be able to advise victims of their eligibility to file wrongful death suit against the owners of the vehicles involved in their family’s accidents, which may include trucking companies as well as drivers.
